ask for the right thing

I was just thinking this morning about the man Elijah. He was full of the Spirit of God. He did have some flaws, but the man was so greatly used of God that anyone following him had to make sure that when the man asks him something their answers had to be correct. Look at the units that were sent by the king Ahaziah to tell Elijah to come to him. The first 2 units probably rode up to the man fearlessly and commanded him to come to the king, and Elijah like the man of God he was, used their own words to bring fire down from heaven that consumed them. But the third unit, the commander of the unit knew that this man was special, you don't mess with him, so he rode up to where Elijah was, got off his horse and bowed before him and ask for mercy first before telling what the king wanted and the angel told Elijah to go with the unit to see the king. As we read further we find that Elisha was asked by the Prophet Elijah what does he want, you know Elisha's answer was right on, he did not ask for power like we do today, Elisha knew his master and if he could get just a portion of the spirit in his master that's enough for him. So, Elisha just asked for a double portion of the Holy Spirit in Elijah. Man, what a thing he asked for, even Elijah said it is hard but, it is not impossible to get. So, my take on this is, let's not ask for too much of this or that, but let us ask for more of the Spirit of God so we can do what God has given us to do in this world that is not our home.
